Investment Philosophy

Duchossois Technology Partners (DTEC) invests in companies with experienced management teams, compelling technology, and large market opportunities. We partner with management teams and are actively involved with our portfolio companies. DTEC provides its portfolio companies over fifty years of operating and investing experience and a deep network of relationships.

 

Investment Focus

DTEC’s portfolio of promising companies spans the U.S. geographically. We are particularly interested in opportunities located in close proximity to our Chicago and Austin offices.

Areas of Focus:
We invest in Information Technology, Communications, Semiconductor, and Software businesses. We pursue investments that leverage our successful operating and investment backgrounds in the consumer, enterprise, wireless, telecommunications, and component sectors.

Investment Stage:
We are a blended stage investment firm and invest in the Early, Mid, and Growth Stages of a company. DTEC recognizes that it can take time to build a successful enterprise and takes a long-term perspective with each investment.

Investment Amount:
We target to invest $2-7 million per investment and are comfortable leading an investment round or joining a syndicate.

Investment Partners:
We typically co-invest with other investment firms. Throughout our history we have worked with some of the industry’s most successful venture capital and corporate investors.

 

Affiliations
Opus Capital DTEC has a strategic and collaborative relationship with Opus Capital out of Menlo Park, CA. Opus Capital Group is an early stage venture capital and alternative assets firm with more than $1 billion in committed capital under management. Since 1971, Opus Capital's predecessor funds have invested in more than 350 companies spanning multiple industries.

 

National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) is the trade association that represents the venture capital industry. It is a member-based organization. Its membership consists of venture capital firms and organizations who manage pools of risk equity capital designated to be invested in young, emerging companies. Currently, the NVCA represents 400+ member firms, representing the majority of venture capital invested in U.S. based companies.

 

Illinois Venture Capital Association (IVCA) DTEC is a founding member of the IVCA. The IVCA has been formed to foster an environment for the development and growth of business enterprise, which will enhance the vitality of the Illinois venture capital/private equity community.
