Alereon, Inc., the Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology leader for WiMedia and Certified Wireless USB applications, today introduced a Private Label Program (PLP) for its AL5000 Worldwide Ultra Wideband Chipset.
This complete turnkey program enables both OEMs and ODMs of Certified Wireless USB products, to achieve the quickest time-to-market using Alereon's WiMedia certified AL5000 worldwide ultra wideband platform, the only platform able to meet regulatory requirements around the globe. The PLP provides complete designs, including all the documentation and software necessary to develop a worldwide Certified Wireless USB product including vendor customization and branding.
Additionally, all of Alereon's PLP products are pre-certified from the FCC, WiMedia Alliance and USB-IF. The program enables transfer of certifications to realize production-ready products in as little as four weeks.

The initial aftermarket products included in the program consist of the AL5608 Half-MiniCard, the AL5604 Wireless USB Adapter, the AL5605 Wireless USB ExpressCard/34, the AL5620 Wireless USB Video Adapter and the AL5612 Wireless USB Hub.
All of the PLP products are based on Alereon's AL5000 Worldwide Wireless USB chipset, which integrates all of the essential RF circuitry, including synthesizer VCO/PLL, anti-alias filters, LNAs, PAs, baluns and transmit/receive (T/R) switches, the Media Access Controller (MAC) and Baseband Processor (BBP). The chipset includes all the firmware and software drivers necessary to bring to market a worldwide Wireless USB product. Covering the entire WiMedia spectrum from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz and including Bandgroup 6, the only Bandgroup recognized to meet regulatory requirements worldwide, the AL5000 Worldwide Wireless USB chipset was optimized for desktop and laptop PCs; after market hubs, adapters and cards; and embedded devices including PC peripherals, mobile handsets, and digital cameras, where space and power consumption are at a premium.
